Asdel is an old desert country- originally a small city built on an oasis that quickly expanded to house a sprawling city and massive palace built out of sandstone and clay extracted from the earth around it. An interconnected aqueduct flows through it, bringing fresh water from the spring that fuels the whole nation. It is known as a great hub of trade, festivals, and riches, and is viewed a near-untouchable in war due to its good connections with several other large nations and the difficult terrain of the sands surrounding it.

The weather in Asdel is what one would expect from a desert- hot during the day, cold at night. The extreme temperatures and open sands in all directions make it a miracle that anything survives there at all, but somehow a country has thrived. It is treacherous for traders to even attempt the trek, but it doesn't stop many from making the journey for the riches Asdel promises.

The palace of Asdel sits in the center of the city, walled off from its citizens and rising high above them with domed roofs and great displays of water and sprawling gardens and menageries. Colorful murals and tiles decorate the floors and grand staircases and huge halls display the wealth. The royalty hardly ever leave their walls, and when they must do so they are accompanied by a regiment of guards.
